We've updated our 3G mobile broadband section for 2009. There are now more pay-as-you-go mobile broadband packages from the main networks which are great for occassional surfing when out and about. O2 have the cheapest PAYG broadband modem costing only £29.35 and you can then buy top-ups from only £2/day! Or for more frequent use, Three have a modem for £48.93 and 30 days use (up to 1GB) is only £10. There are also the monthly mobile broadband contracts where Three generally come in at the lowest cost in each of the usage brackets.
